100 Hair-Care Sets Are Not 100 Bottles: Plan a Small OEM Launch
Work out how per-SKU MOQ changes a hair-care set order. Compare two-step and three-step pilots, packaging minimums and replenishment before buying inventory.
Count finished units per SKU before counting sets. If two eligible products each require 100 pieces, 100 complete sets use 200 bottles. A third product adds another 100 units. Confirm each formula and pack separately, then calculate boxes, assembly and replenishment instead of treating the set as one universal MOQ.
Why a gift-set idea needs a unit calculation
Off & Relax’s current official announcement lists a limited shampoo-and-treatment box with a brush, starting phased release on 17 October 2026. That shows a retail combination strategy, not a new formula or proven long-term demand. A small OEM buyer can learn from the clear routine without copying the brand’s celebrity promotion or accessories.
The first commercial question is how many physical items the concept requires. Set quantity, product MOQ and custom-box minimum are different numbers. Mixing them in one headline can make an apparently small launch much larger than the buyer expected.
Calculate the bill of materials before artwork
Arithmetic example A: 100 sets × one shampoo plus one treatment = 100 shampoos + 100 treatments, or 200 filled units, plus 100 outer packs if each set has one.
Arithmetic example B: add one leave-in product to each set = another 100 units, bringing the total to 300 filled units. The extra product must independently meet its formula-and-pack minimum.

Ask whether unused components can be held, who owns them and what storage or repeat-order conditions apply. Do not assume those arrangements are included.
Choose a routine customers can finish
Two products should perform two identifiable jobs
A shampoo and rinse-off conditioner offer a recognisable sequence. A shampoo and mask may suit a different frequency. State which step replaces a normal product and which is additional. Avoid adding a serum only to make the box look more valuable if the buyer cannot explain its role.
Account for unequal consumption
The items in a set will not necessarily empty together. A salon may use shampoo and mask in different amounts or frequencies. Exact usage depends on approved instructions and the service routine; do not invent a universal number of treatments per bottle. Give buyers the option to discuss individual-item replenishment rather than requiring a full kit every time.
Use packaging that does not dominate the pilot
Begin with suitable mature formulas and compatible stock containers. Then compare a simple sleeve, standard outer pack and fully fitted custom box. All need actual availability and process review. A decorative box is not worth delaying the pilot if it adds no clear protection, instruction or retail value.
A brush, towel or applicator introduces a separate supply chain. Confirm its materials, quality, packing space and procurement minimum. Do not imply JunChun manufactures an accessory merely because it appears in a proposed set. Keep celebrity images and licensed elements out unless permission is established.
- Write a per-set parts list with the quantity of every item.
- Attach each SKU’s approved fill quantity, formula identity and stock-pack confirmation.

- Get packed size and weight before comparing freight options.
- Agree whether the first reorder can be one SKU, rather than another complete set.
Set a purchasing rule before committing
Proceed only when the routine, component minimums and cash requirement all fit the pilot. If a third step makes the explanation harder or requires disproportionate packaging stock, remove it. This is a procurement recommendation, not a statement that fewer SKUs always sell better.
